No country for old men

I guess it depends on who your standing by or who is looking at the picture as to whether your old or not. I will always remember a friend in a church group who one day got up to tell us his life story. He spent a long time in talking about his time in the service during ww11. Most guys as they told their life story seemed to spend the most amount of time on that period if they were old enough to have been in the war. We all listened to his life story with interest. When he was done someone said, " Ben, what about your work, what did you do for a living"?

Ben paused and said you know I can't remember. Ben was 88 years old at the time. This was interesting since he had been President of a large National Frim during his working years.

Even with the "career missing" his life story was interesting. In fact it puts things in perspective a bit.

I bought this book in Santa Fe
I wondered if it would be about someone like Ben? It wasn't. It really was a interesting novel about Texas and the Southwest and crime and bad folks. Good novel.

This picture is of Devils Island. The novel and film Papillion was based on this island. Good place to be. Wish I was there.

Isn't that amazing that someone could forget their entire career? I like what you said about that though - maybe that isn't so important in the long run.
