Earth, Sky, Truth, Error, and Voltaire

These clouds pictures were taken at different times by my favorite photographer/artist/best friend. They are over the Sandia Mountains. Sandia means watermelon by the way. Whenever you look at the mountains they seem to look different. From out in space looking down at the earth, as in a prior post, or looking up at these clouds "Its good to be here"

The surface of the earth is soft and impresionable by the feet of men;
and so with the paths which the mind travels.
How worn and dusty, then must be the highways of the world,
how deep the ruts of tradition and conformity!

by Henry David Thoreau
Recalling a book I liked, but was not good enough to be in my top 5, or even top 50, was Candide by Voltaire. The book starts out with this fellow getting kicked out of his home for kissing the wrong person. Then he proceeds to wander. Lots of funny things happen as he goes through one event after another. Maybe great lessons are learned from the events? I have read the book and have read some about Voltaire. This quote below is one of the better things I trace to him. I put the quote here since I hope this blog has some truth, rather than a lot of error

Love Truth, Pardon Error

Voltaire
(in one of my next blogs I am going to put a picture of a quilt that was made from scraps that my mother keep in a cedar chest all my life. This may seem odd in the context of the first few blogs. Odd enough that I thought I would mention it)
