Beyond the rim, small run, today in time

Went out for a small run tonight. It was great to be out. Recently I was trying to think of 5 favorite movies. I came up with a few. One was "Somewhere in Time". I forgot to list the Johnny Cash movie I walk the line or something along that line. Watched it a dozen times you would think I could be more sure of the name. The thought that with Christopher R. gone that it was too sad, the movie "Somewhere in Time" of course, was mentioned. Still think it is a great movie myself. I like the picture here. It reminds me of the movie and it also reminds me of Tennyson's poem below. The poem often reminds me of my parents, now in "that new world which is the old". I like that phrase especially. Going back to where we came being with those past and it being new. I suppose that "time travel" appeals to folks for a variety of reasons. Makes for some interesting plots. Somewhere in Time was about time travel but it was about that new world that was old and I think touched on the brotherhood of mankind as a whole. I recall older cousins that when I was young I would have never considered being a friend to them or able to talk and enjoy a conversation with them. Time changes that. Enough time might change it all.
*
And on her lover’s arm she leant,
And round her waist she felt it fold
And far across the hills they went
In that new world which is the old;

Across the hills, and far away
Beyond their utmost purple rim,
And deep into the dying day
The happy princess follow’d him

forgot my hat

Looks like one of these guys may have gone gentle into the night or at least lost some light. I have always liked the poem that suggests that we "rage against the dying of the light". On the other hand I also think that the "light" never dies and the effort needs to be to ensure that it doesn't..................................................................
Do not go gentle into that good night
By Dylan Thomas
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieve it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Intuitively not sure of all this

A personality quiz suggested that I was................... friendly, gentle, and modest, with a good heart and a lusty nature. Also that I laugh easily, have a well-developed sense of irony, and tend to understand people intuitively. Interested in new people, but will always maintain notions of insider vs. outsider, which will lead me to commit to a group of friends who will be with you your entire life. Then suggesting that if I have a weakness it's timidity -- meaning to feel pressure to remain 'lagom' -- on an even par with others. But then suggesting that this is also my strength?????????

Unlike any other day

Today Christ overcame death and took up his body again. This event is central to the reason for life. It was something anticipated by those who understood the Old Testament and was and is revealed in "all things". The Sun and the Stars and the Earth itself testify of Christ. Ralph Waldo Emerson must have understood this as he looked up at the stars and wrote:
*
"If the stars should appear one night
in a thousand years, how would men believe
and adore; and preserve for many
generations the remembrance of the
city of God which has been shown them!"
*
In the spirit of that thought consider our daily renewal from darkness to light. Night to Day.

Plenty to think about one way or another

Plenty to ponder. On the other hand today I thought a lot about how often I "think a lot" and then considered how often I in my conversations talk about the past? The problem is that so many things remind me of something. Discussing this I mentioned to the person I was out hitting all the antique stores with on our "day off" that I was considering trying to just not talk about the past, unless asked. I was reminded of conference when Boyd Packer said that

"young men talk of the future since they have no real past and old men talk of the past since they don't have much of a future".

*

Then my companion mentioned that it may be hard to not talk about the past since my future was ? whatever, less interesting, or something? So the point is maybe not talking about the past will position me more like the young men who talk of the future. Tomorrow is Easter. What a great future event to think about tonight................................

Light from Darkness

Easter is calculated as the first Sunday after the paschal full moon . Last year I took a picture of the full moon as Easter approached. Tonight I got a call from a friend who called to remind me that the paschal full moon would be seen tonight so I again took a picture.
*
Last Sunday was Palm Sunday. Today is probably the day that Jesus had the "last supper" and then went to Gethsemane the garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem whose name means "oil press". According to Luke 22:43–44, Jesus' anguish in Gethsemane was so deep that "his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground and it was here that the Atonement was made.

Sun, air, blue sky and a turtle

A 2 mile walk today was a great way to start the day and something I have missed. As I went to the East I hadn't gone even one house past our house when I noticed on the side of the road a rock that looked unusual. Looking closer I found that it was a turtle. Course the actual turtle person was hid out inside his shell house. Then moving on and to the North I looked up and saw a large bird floating back and forth. If you look at the picture of the blue sky there is a black dot in the middle of it and that is this great bird. Guess the camera doesn't see what I saw. Later on the way home I noticed a cactus type tree that always catches my attention. Sun, air, blue sky and a turtle. Pretty good.

Good Things can come from Change

Today is General Conference. It is also the day after I walked a half a mile for the first time in a month plus. It is the day I looked closer at the quotes and pictures I have up my computer. One says:

"Without Change their would be no Butterflies"
Conference offers a chance for change. A way to see how we might re focus on things that will make the most difference in our lives.
