Glad Grace, Soft Look, Changing Face

Experience is what you get
when you don't get what you want.

To Err Is Human, To Forgive Divine

Getting what one wants seems to change with time. Sooner or later the things that went wrong and were a challenge seem to be the point where real experience took place.

The road to wisdom?-
Well, it's plain and simple
to express:
Err and err and err again
but less and less and less.

~Piet Hein

Just another guy, looking back. His particular view of experience is summed up as "when he was that age" ect. His lessons learned were then. His proof now are proud scars, perhaps.

Memories turn soft. Moments of glad grace. A soft look
A Pilgrim Soul

When You are Old

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once,
and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

W.B. Yeats
